Registration for the 2024 Conference is now open!
This year, we are excited to focus on the core pillars of Horticultural Therapy, getting back to the “heartwood” and ensuring we have a solid understanding of the profession. After Digging Deeper in 2023, we found so much more to explore and celebrate in the foundations of Horticultural Therapy as both a profession and a practice. For this year’s conference we look inward to the core of what Horticultural Therapy is, along with the pillars and foundations that provide the strength for Horticultural Therapy to flourish. We aim to present a conference highlighting some of the fundamental pillars of what Horticultural Therapy is all about, with the people and programs instrumental to the field of HT both in Canada and Internationally.
Our goal is to cultivate connections, communication, and collaboration between our members to build a more diverse and resilient community.
The CHTA supports our members by providing spaces and forums to share, learn, and promote nature-based therapies. We provide a regular newsletter focused on professional development, a members-only web page, and access to a wide variety of resources and services regarding HT/TH employment, education, and volunteer opportunities.
Come to talk about therapeutic gardens across Canada and in your region. Share your favourite regional therapeutic garden or come to listen about all of the amazing therapeutic gardens across Canada. Discuss how Horticultural Therapy practitioners can use these gardens and how this information can be shared.
This webinar will provide an opportunity to explore the CHTA Core Skills & Knowledge as a community. We will dig into the recent improvements to the Core Skills & Knowledge and the ways you can use this tool for your own professional practice. We will discuss how this core document affects our personal HT/ TH work, our professional development pathways, and our field as a whole.
This webinar will offer a focused amount of time to better understand the newly updated CHTA Guidelines for Professional Registration Application. Members will be able to reflect on the ways their professional journeys can be guided by this core document, and explore the benefits of this renewed version for our professional credibility, standardization, and level of expertise.
This virtual book club event will explore 2 core textbooks, The Profession and Practice of Horticultural Therapy (edited by Rebecca L. Haller, Karen L. Kennedy, and Christine L. Capra), and Horticulture as Therapy – Principles and Practice (edited by Sharon P. Simson and Martha C. Straus).
